Triumph Stag Engine
The car was purchased and went well for around 100 miles but always lacked power and used a large amount of oil, the customer, an experienced race mechanic in a previous life removed and stripped the engine for a simple refresh but was surprised at what he found. Lacking the facilities to carry out a major rebuild, the engine was brought to Classics where it was carefully measured to work out a plan of campaign. Severe corrosion was evident in the cylinder heads, which were beyond economic repair, so a better pair of second hand heads were sourced which still required extensive repairs. The engine was carefully built with all the clearances being optimised to ensure a better than new end result. Once everything was as good as we had planned the engine was again stripped and all the moving parts were balanced to ensure improved longevity, smoothness, power and reliability. The engine is about to be fitted .
